As photographers we're often asked to suggest wedding venues. Southern Oregon has many beautiful and varied locations suitable for hosting weddings and lending themselves to photographic opportunities. We will be working to develop information and galleries hoping to help you select the wedding venue of your dreams. For now we briefly describe a few of our favorites where we've photographed and enjoyed the surroundings at client weddings. Where possible, we'll provide you a link to go to the web content about these locations, hopefully to assist with your wedding planning.
As you may know, our area has a variety of churches to choose from. A few of our favorites with terrific outdoor areas are Ashland Christian Fellowship, Trail Christian Fellowship, and Applegate Christian Fellowship. Witnessing the natural surroundings of the outdoor amphitheater at Applegate grow and mature over the years has been amazing.
If your looking for other outdoor wedding venue ideas, our valley is exceptionally conducive to grape growing and has many vineyards. Being situated relative to Interstate 5 in such a way allows for efficient distribution and winery operations. Paschal Winery, one such location, northeast of Ashland, amidst the base of Grizzly Peak, stares beautifully back into Mt. Ashland and the Siskiyou Mountains. Del Rio Vineyards boasts magnificent panoramic views of the operation, found just east of Interstate 5, north of Gold Hill. They are very well suited to host and have an outdoor facility affixed in the direct center of a vast expanse of vineyards. Another great bet is Eden Valley Orchards and the historic Voorhies Mansion.
We are blessed to have such a fine ski facility as Mt. Ashland so nearby. This beautiful apline setting and rustic lodge is a terrific and unique wedding setting during summer and fall.
Nearby the Applegate River west of Grants Pass, with gardens and mountain scenery, The Eastman Gardens and Ranch is truly splendid. We are also graced with the beautifully scenic Rogue River excellent for fishing and rafting among other activities. The river meanders, like rivers do, alongside many terrific private locations often found to be hosting weddings. So if you have one of these as an option, we'd suggest considering it. One such publicly available location is the Jackson County operated River House in Shady Cove.
A short pleasant (weather dependent of course) drive east up the Southern Oregon Cascade Mountains along Route 66, or Green Springs Highway, brings you to an expanse called Box R Ranch. They have numerous settings such as The Great Western Hall in which to host a wedding. If you like the idea of a quiet location in a country setting and would prefer to keep your guests and event in the valley, Cobblestone Cottages Bed and Breakfast has a nice property near Jacksonville.
We are blessed with superb golf courses, also well suited to host your wedding and reception such as the 1996 Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Eagle Point Golf Course. With a variety of facilities and amenities, the Rogue Valley Country Club is another excellent option. A large Craftsman style clubhouse and spacious rock terrace, backdropped by 27 beautifully oak lined holes of golf make this a fun and memorable location.
In Etna, California nearby the well known Mount Shasta area, you can find the Alderbrook Manor Bed and Breakfast. This is a beautiful location inside and out with a quiet country setting and the ability to host quite a few people. We think it is an ideal and memorable setting for a Northern California outdoor wedding.
There are many other choices to consider. We hope this information will help in your quest to select a perfect place for your magical day. It is our goal to continue to add wedding venue possibilities and informative content to this area. Best of luck with your search.
